“Appalachian Leaders Network unequivocally condemns all acts of violence and politically motivated attacks on elected officials, including the recent alleged arson at Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s residence. Such attacks not only endanger lives but also threaten the foundations of our democracy. Elected officials and other leaders dedicate themselves to public service, often at great personal cost, and deserve to serve their communities and constituents without fear of harassment, intimidation or harm. Civil discourse and respect are the pillars of a healthy democracy. We call on leaders and citizens of all political affiliations to uphold these values, and we stand in solidarity with all elected officials who remain committed to leadership in the face of unacceptable violence.”
